Guides should be inspected during a rebuild. Very common for the guides on the exhaust valves to be ovaled.
When building a head with high lift cams, ask your head builder to measure the lift of your cams and set these guides to the proper height.
This will prevent the valve stem seals from becoming damaged.
Also consider new lifters with your new cam, you don't want to transfer an old wear pattern to the new cams.
This will cause premature wear.
